Intriem bail to Sanjay Dutt:

The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the Mumbai serial blasts case. A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan enlarged Dutt on bail till the TADA court in Mumbai provides him with a copy of the judgement. The interim bail is only a breather for him as he will have to surrender once he gets a copy of the order. According to reports, he could get a copy of the conviction order by September. The SC also said that Dutt will have to appear once in a week before the nearest local police station. After getting the copy of the judgement, he can apply for regular bail.Convicted last November on charges of possessing illegal fire arms in the run-up to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, Dutt was sentenced to a six-year jail term on July 31 by a TADA court. While providing relief to Dutt, the court took into consideration that he was on bail since October 16, 1995 till July 31.The court said that the passport of Dutt will remain with the trial court and he will not leave the country without its permission.
