Even though A.R. Rahman is still considered the genius in music, his lack of time to do Tamil movies left a space wide open for his student Harris Jeyaraj to take over. All his movies have become a rage in Kollywood.Harris Jeyaraj’s Unnale Unnale was the talk of the town before A.R. Rahman came back, all guns blazing, with Sivaji which is still ruling the charts. After getting the Filmfare award for Sillunu Oru kadhal A.R. Rahman is ready with ATM and Harris with Bheema.
A R Rahman In Bollywood, Rahman bagged Aamir-starrer Gajini, directed by A.R. Murugoss. The original movie was a musical hit with Suttum Vizhi Chudarae song becoming a sensation, tuned by Harris Jeyaraj. Aamir Khan’s favorite music director is said to have given sensational tunes to Aamir and left A.R.
Murugadoss bold over. People can compare the songs only after the movie’s music is released, but that is bound to happen in mid 2008. Still the competition is well worth a wait. Gautham opting for Rahman for this IT-based musical was a shocker to many. Lets see how this musical competition between the Guru and the Sishyan fares, and who will be crowned the best in Kollywood

Did Rahman disrespect our National anthem?:

A.R. Rahman, had released Vande Mataram on the occasion of the 50th year of independence and in the 60th year he came up with an album "Jana GanaMana". Even though the intentions were good, he seems to have forgotten that there is a law that the national anthem should be sung in a specific way and should be finished within the stipulated seconds.
And if done otherwise it is deemed as disrespect to the national anthem and could attract a sentence of a maximum of three years imprisonment. And now many people are ready to sue Rahman for this action.

Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam - Trisha

Director Gautham Menon has selected Trisha to play a pivotal role in his next film, tentatively titled “Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam” (Rainy Season in Chennai). Along with Trisha, four newcomers will be cast in the film.

Trisha’s performance as a bubbly young girl in Ajith-starrer “Kireedom” which was released last month, has won her acclaim and the film itself has received rave reviews. A great fan of Gautham Menon, Trisha has expressed her joy to work in his film. Set against the backdrop of the emerging IT culture, the story revolves around an IT professional’s life. A.R. Rahman will compose the music.

According to sources, Gautham Menon has registered the title “Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam” for a Surya-Asin film, but it has been shelved. And the Director is considering retaining the same title for the film starring Trisha.

An excited Trisha says when Gautham Menon approached her with the offer; she did not even listen to the script. She immediately accepted the offer to work in the movie. Being part of a film that will have A.R. Rahman as the music director “is something to be proud of,” she added.
Asked how she could accept a role that requires her to work with four newcomers, Trisha told mediapersons that she has immense faith in Gautham’s script. The film will be launched in October with the onset of the northeast monsoon, which brings heavy rains in Chennai. The movie is expect to be completed in time for the release during December.

Azhagiya Tamizh Magan in Kazakhstan

It has become an unwritten rule in Tamil cinema that all duets are filmed overseas. Songs and dance sequences play a significant role . The same is true for 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan'.
The film crew has surveyed many places and have finally zeroed in on Kazakhstan, once part of the old Soviet Republic, where the lead pair Vijay and Shriya are scheduled to gyrate for an enchanting number composed by Isai Puyal A R Rahman. Post production work will begin soon after completing this song. Vijay after having been impressed with Prabhu Deva’s choreography has requested him to do a number in Azhagiya Tamil Magan too and the Michel Jackson of India has also reportedly agreed.

Today Sivaji's 50th day:

The world still can't get enough of Shivaji, which features superstar Rajinikanth and Shreya Saran in the lead. When the movie in its Tamil version celebrates its 50th day of running today, it will soon be dubbed into Hindi, Chinese and Japanese. The films investors have recovered all the investment that has gone into Shivaji worldwide and they are reaping rich profits off the film. The city's theatres are still screening the film to packed houses. Reacting to this response from audiences, the producer AVM Saravanan has decided to get the film dubbed in Hindi, Chinese and Japanese. His idea to dub the film has been received by the films music composer AR Rahman and Superstar Rajini. The ace composer has agreed to redo the songs with Japanese, Chinese and Hindi lyrics. Imagine what the 'Ballelakka...' song will sound like in Chinese? As far as the Hindi dubbed version goes, Rajini himself will dub for the film. He is known to dub himself for his Hindi films but he interestingly doesn't dub for his Tamil films. So it will be a Rajini first.
